Job summary

Job description

DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center, helped pioneer the evolution of emergency medicine and currently has one of the busiest and most well-equipped emergency departments anywhere. The first and largest verified burn center in the state is at Receiving, and it is one of only 43 in the nation. Receiving also offers the state’s leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit’s first certified primary stroke center, and the nationally recognized and accredited DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence.

Summary

As directed, drafts policy provisions and provides interpretation of department policies. Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management, aligning with organizational goals. Monitors workflow quality and quantity to ensure completion. Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, terminations, and disciplinary measures. Completes performance appraisals. Develops and assesses goals and measures for related fields or processes. Assists in developing and monitoring budgets. Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, JCAHO standards, and hospital policies. Implements audit recommendations and promotes diversity in vendor selection.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in Central Processing/Materials Management or related fields, including some leadership or supervisory experience.
  3. Certification through NICHSPDP or IAHCSMM preferred.

  1. Analytical skills to define procedures, oversee application of methods, interpret policies, and monitor goal attainment.
  2. Communication and interpersonal skills for effective contact with stakeholders, including conflict resolution, tact, and discretion.
  3. Leadership skills, including accountability, decision-making, coaching, and team-building abilities.
