Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System in Glen Burnie, MD seeks a detail-oriented Central Services Technician to ensure cleanliness, sterilization, and proper handling of medical instruments and supplies across the facility.

The role requires a High school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months in Sterile Processing; Sterile Processing certification is preferred. Schedule is 3:00pm-11:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in Sterile Processing with experience in decontamination, assembly, sterilization and sterile storage.
  • Sterile Processing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment using various sterilization methods and techniques.
  • Inspect medical instruments and equipment for defects or damage and report any issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assemble and package sterilized instruments and supplies for distribution to various hospital departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, including cycle times, temperatures, and quality control measures.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Manage inventory of sterile supplies and reorder as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Full-time Availability Required

Schedule: 3:00pm-11:30pm, Monday–Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in Sterile Processing with experience in decontamination, assembly, sterilization and sterile storage. If no previous experience the incumbent must have completed or be currently enrolled in a Sterile Processing course.
  • Sterile Processing certification preferred.
