Job Description

General Overview

Receives, reprocesses, distributes, and stores patient care equipment and instrumentation.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Transport soiled equipment, perform decontamination and disinfection using automated equipment and manual cleaning. (30%)
2. Operate sterilizers according to regulatory requirements and manufacturer instructions. (30%)
3. Inspect, audit, and assemble surgical instrument sets and medical devices used in the Operating Room and other patient care areas. Assemble surgical case carts accurately and efficiently. (30%)
4. Process requests for patient care equipment via computerized systems and telephone. (5%)
5. Contact outside vendors for rental patient care equipment delivery. (5%)
6. Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• For CST hired after 12/29/2020: Pass a nationally accredited central service exam within 18 months of hire, and maintain certification as CRCST or CSPDT.

Preferred

• Experience in sterile processing or at least six months in a hospital setting preferred.
