Position: Central Processing Technician II
Schedule: 40 hours, Evening/Night, Every 3rd Weekend as needed
Position Summary: The CPD Technician II is a certified technician responsible for decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of medical/surgical supplies. The role is highly technical and detail-oriented. The CPD Technician II must have a thorough knowledge of microbiology, cleaning procedures, disinfection, sterilization, and the care, handling, disassembly, and re-assembly of equipment and surgical instrumentation. A CPD Tech II must also be familiar with case cart/inventory management systems, ordering supplies and equipment, stocking, and maintaining par levels for the operating rooms and labor and delivery. Additional duties include delivery, retrieval, decontamination, re-assembly of patient equipment, and assisting with training junior techs. Flexibility for on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required.
Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) by IAHCSMM or as a Central Sterile Professional Department Technician (CSPDT) by ASHCSP.
Experience: At least one year of experience in collecting, cleaning, decontaminating, packing, and storing sterile instruments.
