Provides technical support to the lab by receiving/processing requisitions/specimens and ordering specified lab tests according to standard operating procedures. Responds to phone requests and enters lab test data into computer.
Education:High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred Education: Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology.
License, certification, and/or registration: MLA certification from a recognized credentialing agency (e.g., ASCP or AMT) preferred.
Experience: Previous work experience strongly preferred. Keyboarding experience, 40 wpm preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced, customer service environment, prioritize and adapt to changing tasks, maintain confidentiality, handle high stress, work in a team, and ensure patient identification accuracy. Flexibility regarding shift end times may be required.
