Qualifications

  • PharmD, BS in Pharmacy, or NABP-equivalent.
  • Unrestricted pharmacist license in Ohio in good standing.
  • Willingness to obtain licenses in multiple states.
  • BLS or CPR obtained within 1 month of starting.
  • 3+ years direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Immunization delivery certification preferred.
  • 2+ years specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and have reliable transportation.
  • Familiarity with AI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct care, therapeutic recommendations, and counseling for patients with chronic conditions.
  • Verify prescription information for labels and third-party submissions; address adherence issues.
  • Support specialty pharmacy workflows with prior authorizations and appeals.

  • Document information in specialty pharmacy software to maintain URAC and ACHC standards.
  • Route clinical interventions and escalate with Central Patient Engagement Specialists.
  • Maintain flexibility to serve as on-site floating pharmacist as needed.
  • Review payor formularies and complete prior authorizations and appeals.

We are looking for a Central Pharmacist to play an important role at AndHealth on the Central Pharmacy Team. This position is located at our corporate office in Columbus, Ohio.

This position will report to the Director of Central Pharmacy. In the absence of the Director of Central Pharmacy, this position will report to the next level manager unless otherwise defined or assigned.

Key Deliverables:
  • Ensure superior medication access for patients living with chronic health conditions by taking ownership of access challenges until prescriptions are filled.
  • Ensure time to therapy is as short as possible by reducing barriers to specialty medication access, including prior authorizations, cost, and insurance.
  • Partner with Central Patient Engagement Specialists, Patient Navigators, Coaches, and Providers to communicate with patients in their preferred way.
  • Routinely communicate with patients to ensure improved health outcomes by reducing barriers and improving adherence.
  • Develop processes and document SOPs as the scope of AndHealth’s Central Pharmacy Team expands.
  • Own the day-to-day operation of our new Non-Dispensing Pharmacy and its continued implementation within broader organizational workflows.
  • Support existing and new central team growth initiatives including referral capture and patient adherence efforts.
What you’ll do in the role:
  • Deliver direct care, therapeutic recommendations, and counseling for patients with chronic conditions via the Patient Management Program, protocols, or collaborative practice agreements.
  • Verify the accuracy of prescription information for use on labels and third-party submissions and actively address complex adherence issues.
  • Support specialty pharmacy workflows by securing medication access through financial assistance programs and executing prior authorizations and appeals.
  • Review patient profiles for interactions, allergies, or therapeutic duplications, and recommend evidence-based medication or dosage adjustments.
  • Support 340B inventory management for on-site pharmacies, including the re-adjudication of claims for outside specialists.
  • Obtain and document all required information in specialty pharmacy software to maintain strict URAC and ACHC accreditation standards.
  • Route clinical interventions appropriately and collaborate with Central Patient Engagement Specialists on escalations.
  • Maintain flexibility to occasionally serve as an on-site floating pharmacist across pharmacy sites as business needs evolve.
  • Review payor formularies and complete prior authorizations and appeals as necessary for patients.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Education & Licensure Requirements:
  • PharmD, BS in Pharmacy, or equivalent FPGEC (NABP).
  • Unrestricted pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Ohio.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain licenses in multiple states.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR obtained or willing to obtain within 1 month of starting.
Other Skills or Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of direct patient care experience in pharmacy is preferred.
  • Immunization delivery certification is preferred.
  • 2+ years of specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • PGY1 residence or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple things simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with technology and the ability to adapt to new systems.
  • The position may require some travel. Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation.

  • Familiarity and willingness to use AI tools.

  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: Documentation of a negative screening conducted within the last 12 months.

  • Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR): Proof of a completed vaccine series or positive blood titers from within the last 12 months.
  • Varicella (Chickenpox): Proof of vaccination, documented medical history of the disease, or positive blood titers from within the last 12 months.
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis): Documentation of a booster administered within the last 10 years.
  • Influenza: Proof of vaccination for the current flu season.
  • COVID-19: Documentation of primary vaccine series and any boosters administered.
  • General: Additional health requirements may be requested as necessary.
