Job summary

AV Staffing Solutions in Richmond, VA is seeking experienced Central Office Technicians with hands-on carrier telecom experience to support a large Virginia deployment. This role involves field work inside active carrier central offices, site surveys, equipment installation, cabling, and migration readiness.

You will travel between Virginia locations, verify equipment against records, document field conditions in Excel, and follow MOPs and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in telecommunications Central Offices or carrier facilities.
• Knowledge of racks/bays, cabinets, patches, ports and cross-connects in CO environments.
• Ability to read engineering records, equipment lists and network diagrams.
• Experience documenting field conditions using Excel or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Work inside active carrier Central Offices and wire centers.
• Survey and document existing telecom equipment, racks, bays, cabling, power and connectivity.
• Trace circuits, cables, cross-connects and termination points.
• Verify equipment against network records and field conditions.
• Assess rack space, power, grounding and cabling for new equipment.
• Rack, mount, power, ground, cable and label new network equipment.
• Support migrations, equipment swaps and cutovers.
• Document post-installation connectivity and validation.
• Follow engineering standards, MOPs, safety procedures and change-control requirements.
• Travel between Central Office locations in Virginia.
