Position Overview

Manages and tracks local and federal funds related to local and professional travel, Extra Activity, and Extended School Year programs. Reviews processes and investigates payroll, leave, and travel discrepancies to ensure timely resolution for the Department of Exceptional Education at DeKalb County School District (DCSD).

Essential Job Duties
  • Review and process payroll for the department, ensuring accuracy and compliance with district policies.
  • Maintain accurate payroll data and records, including processing and documenting the department's Statements of Leave.
  • Monitor and report on staff attendance and leave balances.
  • Review and process local and professional travel requests, including conference registrations, training arrangements, purchase orders, and requisitions; ensure timely submission of invoices.
  • Prepare, distribute, collect, and log semi-annual certifications to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and reconcile Purchase Card reports for directors and senior staff.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll and travel discrepancies biweekly, providing clear communication of payroll and travel guidelines to staff.
  • Respond to staff inquiries regarding human resources and payroll policies and procedures.
  • Process Extra Activity Pay requests for all itinerant staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of bookkeeping, accounting, or closely related experience required.
