High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Central Monitoring Station Operator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Supervises an established shift operation, officers and administrative functions
- Supervises the security central monitoring station during shift assignment and is responsible for security officer post assignment and services
- Schedules, conducts and oversees officer training
- Prepares shift reports, documents and reports actual or perceived concerns to security management in a confidential manner
- Conducts preliminary investigations of incidents, complaints and security violations
- Performs administrative task such as scheduling, assignment changes
- Responds to emergencies and coordinates emergency response
- Monitors compliance with fire and safety requirements
- Maintains key control logs and supervise the issuance of locks and keys
- Monitors the condition of assigned vehicles and schedules maintenance to ensure reliability, care and cleanliness
- Coordinates equipage of security officers with necessary tools to ensure proper task preparation and to ensure all officers present a professional image
- Conducts problem-solving meetings
- Evaluates and defines performance capabilities, reviews and evaluates on-the-job training for officers
- Provides team performance feedback for completion of Employee performance assessments
- Liaison between officers and management to ensure lines of communication remain open
- Performs a variety of complex assignments as requested by clients and customers
- Creates and maintains accurate records as assigned by management
- Screens and verifies access authorization and registers employees, clients, customers, sponsors, vendors and contractors at ingress and egress points
- Maintains surveillance at ingress and egress points
- Operates emergency notification, paging, and telephone and radio systems
- Monitors and controls personnel and material traffic at ingress and egress points in accordance with company policy
- Monitors CCTV, alarm and access control systems and other physical security and emergency systems
- Monitors the movement of company and personal material in compliance with established company property procedures
- Responds, documents and conducts preliminary investigations for incidents involving theft, injury and violations of company policies
- Performs patrol of facility and grounds to include interior and exterior of buildings to ensure established security, safety and facility environmental programs are in compliance
- Enforces company and Department of Defense (DOD) security rules and regulations
- Operates the company switchboard operations
- Administers First Aid, CPR aid until appropriate medical response arrives
- Responds to alarms and other emergency situations
- Notifies Crisis Management Team contacts when required
- Debriefs employees possessing a Department of Defense (DOD) Personnel Clearance (PCL) and assists in completion of security related documents when individuals are exiting employment after normal business hours
- Performs single or limited number of clerical and administrative tasks to support Security Department functions
- Assists with on-the-job training for entry-level Security Officers
- Provides input to security management for security procedures and policies improvement
- In the absence of the department manager, identifies, prioritizes and schedules work assignments that impact internal programs
- Assumes leadership responsibilities and advises subordinates in resolving issues, processes and problems in absence of the department manager
- Reviews, troubleshoots and recommends changes and improvements on existing processes
- Initiates and distributes shift schedules to ensure adequate personnel coverage
- Implements published security directives
- Assists in assigning duties, tasks, prioritizing work assignments and monitoring work flow
- Reviews security updates, post orders, and recommends changes
- Maintains policy and procedure manuals relevant to the Security Officers
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of current computer operating system platforms including standard business office applications
- Ability to communicate and converse by radio and telephone
- Considerable written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct lengthy walking security tours, climb stairs and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to detect warning sounds and alarms, ascertain sound direction and recognize related danger
- Ability to work outside during various weather conditions to provide required patrols
- Considerable ability to screen incoming traffic to assess required authorization to access the facility including verifying picture identification, and observing individuals to detect suspicious or dangerous actions, items or other violations
- Considerable ability to read, understand, communicate and abide by applicable company policies and procedures and Department of Defense (DOD) regulations associated with assigned duties
- Professional demeanor and behavior with the ability to be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
- Full knowledge of physical security and communications systems
- Full knowledge and skill in First Aid, CPR and use of emergency equipment
- Considerable ability to monitor and perform on-the-job training
- Skill and proficiency in managing emergencies
- Ability to obtain and maintain a basic first aid and CPR certification is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Personnel Security Clearance up to and including the Top Secret level and required special program access with polygraph, if applicable
- Valid driver's license issued by the applicable State agency is required
Salary Note
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
Combined Salary Range
USD $26.11 - USD $27.98 /Hr.
