Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. seeks an Operator (Heavy Equipment) to work in the Central Florida area. You will operate backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders and material handlers in support of foundation excavation, site grading and pipe laying.

Travel across NE Florida may be required. Candidates should have a High School diploma or equivalent, on-the-job training, and OSHA or manufacturer certifications as required for used equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with on-the-job training.
• OSHA certification or manufacturer certification as required for equipment.
• Experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; travel across NE Florida required.
• Rigging training preferred; transportation to job sites required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders) for foundation excavation, site grading, material placement and pipe laying.

Successful Candidates Must Have

• Prefer High School diploma and on-the-job training
• Certification as required by OSHA or Manufacturer for specific pieces of equipment.
• Prefer experience working in the construction industry.
• Prefer valid Driver’s license. This position will required travel throughout the NE Florida area.
• Prefer to have rigging training. Must have transportation to get to job site.
• Preferred Skills: High School diploma and on-the-job training preferred.
