POLITICO is seeking a sharp and energetic editor to join its Central Editing Desk, the newsroom's general-assignment editing team. You will help edit a wide range of content for POLITICO's consumer and Pro audiences, including breaking news, live blogs, and long-form pieces, while aligning with our standards and style.

The role emphasizes collaboration with reporters and multimedia teams and requires flexible, organization-focused editors who can adapt to shifting priorities during major events

Qualifications

• Demonstrated editing ability across multiple beats and formats.
• Strong news judgement and commitment to fair, nonpartisan journalism.
• Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Flexible to work varying shifts and support different teams as priorities shift.
• Experience with digital publishing workflows and CMS platforms.
• Working knowledge of AP Style and newsroom best practices.

Responsibilities

• Edit a wide range of content for POLITICO's audiences, including breaking news, live blogs, briefs, newsletters and long-form pieces.
• Edit articles in the CMS for accuracy and clarity, fact-check and copy edit to POLITICO standards.
• Help optimize content for digital platforms and review headlines, decks and captions.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors and multimedia teams to ensure timely publishing.
• Deploy flexibly to teams needing editing capacity during major events or staffing gaps.
