Job description

SUMMARY

The Control Room Operator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring accuracy of the automated sorter and conveyors, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify the daily sort plan configuration, communicating hourly volume levels, and overall sorter induction status utilizing BeSSVIEW software system to Operations Supervisors and Managers.
  • Perform virtual sorter maintenance by verifying and acknowledging faults on the BeOS sortation system.
  • Maintain communication with the automation technicians and coordinate downtimes for repairs with management.
  • Ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the sorter by performing all pre-sort checks and daily priming of the conveyors, monitoring and controlling all sorter operations, troubleshooting, and clearing errors.
  • Monitor camera system for jams and problem areas, communicate information to managers and technicians.
  • Receive communication from receivers and management when new trailers arrive, document on control log and track.
  • Complete all required paperwork, records, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of all housekeeping standards.
  • Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or otherwise revised by DHL at its sole discretion.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent training and/or one (1) year transportation or warehouse experience preferred required skills

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Understand and carry out oral instructions; read, understand and carry out written instructions, work orders, receiving, Bills of Lading (BOLs), graphs, logs or schedules; verify zip code numbers
  • Count, perform addition and subtraction
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Train other workers
  • Work with a minimum amount of supervision, under pressure, rapidly for long periods and on several tasks at the same time

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally lift mail, parcels, labels, etc. weighing up to 50 pounds
  • This is a warehouse environment where frequently this position will be exposed to cold, hot and changing temperatures; will constantly experience noise at medium level not damaging or loud enough to require protective equipment; will frequently be exposed to dust, dirt and changes in lighting

Pay Rate: $23.50 per hour.
