A government agricultural department is seeking a supervisor to oversee area supervisors in the agricultural industry. This home/field-based position requires living within specified counties and entails training employees and ensuring compliance with USDA standards. Candidates must have relevant experience and education, including a USDA license for graded commodities. Competitive benefits and salary are provided.
This position is open only to current NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services employees—including temporary employees (hired directly or through Temporary Solutions)—and former NCDA&CS employees eligible for RIF priority reemployment under G.S. 126.
The Cooperative Grading Service, under an Agreement between the USDA and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, administers a program to provide an impartial basis for the fruit, vegetable, and peanut industry to buy, sell, trade, and make settlements on various products throughout the state.
This position oversees area supervisors ensuring quality personnel are available and are working in accordance with all USDA guidelines and standards. This position will schedule and prepare training seminars for employees on varying commodities.
This is a home/field-based position. Applicants must live within Cabarrus, Davidson, Mecklenburg, Rowan and a State vehicle will be provided to complete job duties.

You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five years of closely related work experience including three years of grading experience in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification: Licensure by USDA for commodities graded; possession of a valid state driver's license.
