Job summary

Timken Company seeks a Centerless Machinist to maintain and operate grinding equipment in Aurora. You will load parts, balance wheels, set guides, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while following prints and SPC procedures.

The role offers full-time hours with a competitive benefits package, 401(k), and paid time off. Candidates should have a high school diploma and strong math, blueprint-reading, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary or trades / technical education and certifications preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and shop math competencies
• Ability to read blueprints and utilize gauging equipment preferred
• Strong ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, suppliers, and plant leadership

Responsibilities

• Mount and balance grinding and regulating wheel; select and change work blade, thru-feed spacer, shims and various other features
• Calculate workblade height and set; adjust guides, diamond height and truing angles; dress wheels; set size, track, gauges and speeds/feeds
• Run 1st piece, make adjustments to meet print specs and complete setup paperwork
• Load parts; cycle machine; check parts at designated intervals; adjust to maintain quality per print specifications
• Box or rack parts; demagnetize, wash if required; tag parts; complete SPC paperwork
