Job summary

Acument Global Technologies - North America seeks a centerless grinding operator to set up and operate machines that grind cylindrical surfaces to blueprint specifications. You will read blueprints, determine tooling, select grinding wheels, mount and dress wheels, and adjust speeds and feeds to achieve required tolerances.

Responsibilities include mounting wheels, dressing, verifying dimensions, changing worn wheels, and setting up automatic feeding.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to read blueprints and interpret job orders for tolerances and part counts.
• Experience selecting grinding wheels, speeds, feeds, and fixtures for centerless grinding.
• Ability to mount and dress grinding wheels and verify dimensional accuracy.
• Strong safety practices and attention to quality in a machine shop setting.
• Excellent problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with a team and maintain reliable attendance.

Job description

Position Summary

Sets up and operates one or more centerless grinding machines to grind external or internal cylindrical or tapered surfaces of metalwork pieces to blueprint specifications by performing specific duties.

Position Responsibilities

• Reads blueprint and job order to product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used.
• Mounts grinding wheel and regulating wheel on spindles using wrenches.
• Dresses grinding wheels to specifications.
• Moves controls to set specified grinding speeds, feed rates, and spacing between wheel faces.
• Positions and secures work rest at specified height.
• Lifts and positions work piece manually or with hoist and secures it between wheels and on work rest.
• Starts machine and observes operation.
• Verifies dimensions of ground work piece for conformance to specifications.
• Changes worn grinding wheels.
• Sets up automatic work feeding device.
