Job Description

The Manual Centerless Grinder Machinist is responsible for producing work that meets drawing specifications and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete set-ups with supervision or assistance.
2. Handle all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance within the allotted time.
3. Perform and document accurate in-process quality inspections.
4. Identify and suggest process improvements to reduce part quality variation.
5. Seek ways to improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with manual grinders and honing equipment.
• Certifications in CNC/technology/machinist trade school are a plus.
• Proficiency with air indicators, dial bore gauges, profilometers, and inspection methods.
• Ability to maintain finishes and tolerances within .0002-.0005".
• Understanding of machine tool accuracy, size offsets, and tooling.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and material-specific tool life.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and quality requirements in English.
• Good communication skills and reliability.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, with assistance over that weight.
• Experience with quality systems like AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma is desirable.
• Must be a U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) per ITAR regulations.
