Join Our Team: Centering Technician I - 2nd Shift at LaCroix Precision Optics

We are hiring for the Centering Technician I - 2nd Shift position at LaCroix Precision Optics. The initial training will be conducted from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed. After successful training completion, regular hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as required.

Job Summary

Centering involves precision grinding of lenses to their finished diameter using a centering machine, which resembles a small lathe. Responsibilities include setting up the machine, loading lenses, operating the machine, and inspecting the finished product. Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with precision measuring instruments are essential. Attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are critical.

Levels and Responsibilities
  • Centering Technician I: Performs essential duties with guidance and training, primarily during the first few years of employment. Some positions may remain at this level without performing setup and adjustments independently.
  • Centering Technician II: Performs duties confidently and proficiently with 2 or more years of experience, including setup and adjustments with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience/training, or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and read English for interpreting safety and operational documents.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals.
  • Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and solve common problems.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform close-up visual inspections.
Work Environment and Safety

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and occasional chemicals. Moderate noise level. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness and adherence to safety protocols.
