Job summary

New Pioneer Food Co-op is hiring a Center Store Clerk to support daily grocery operations and create a clean, welcoming shopping experience. You will stock shelves, manage pricing, assist customers, and run POS duties as needed.

This role offers growth within a values-driven cooperative, with opportunities to learn and advance while supporting seasonal transitions and store readiness. Prior retail experience is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in grocery/retail/customer service preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service mindset and willingness to learn.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Interest in natural and organic grocery products preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stock shelves, rotate product, and maintain pricing across Center Store.
• Keep aisles, displays, and backrooms clean and shopper-ready.
• Assist customers with questions and locating items.
• Operate POS systems and cashier duties as needed.
• Support merchandising, displays, and seasonal transitions.
• Follow food safety, inventory handling, and standards.
• Collaborate with team across departments to support store operations.

Location: Operations - Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Iowa City

This foundational role supports stocking, merchandising, product rotation, cashiering, and customer assistance throughout Center Store areas while contributing to overall store readiness and operational consistency.

Requirements

What You Will Do

• Stock shelves, rotate product, and maintain accurate pricing throughout Center Store areas
• Maintain clean, organized, and shopper ready aisles, displays, and backroom spaces
• Assist customers with product questions, item location support, and friendly service
• Operate point of sale systems, cashier, bag, and support carry out assistance when needed
• Support merchandising, promotional displays, and seasonal transitions
• Follow food safety, inventory handling, and operational standards consistently
• Work collaboratively with team members across departments to support overall store operations

• Shelves, displays, and customer facing areas remain clean, organized, and well stocked
• Customers experience friendly, helpful, and efficient service throughout the store
• Tasks are completed accurately and consistently with strong attention to detail
