Primary Purpose
Manage retail operations for the assigned department, impacting store associates, merchandise quality, presentation, and customer service. Build relationships, promote a strong culture, and ensure store conditions involving appearance, security, safety, and food safety are maintained at the highest level. Accountable for proper control of company assets.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for associates and customers.
- Ensure all quality standards are met.
- Manage department operations according to established standards.
- Maintain department appearance and presentation.
- Hire, train, and develop associates.
- Achieve departmental financial objectives.
- Supervise performance of all department duties.
- Provide friendly customer service as a role model.
- Delegate, assign, and follow-up for department efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
- Meet physical requirements of the position.
- Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback.
- Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
- Ensure proper training for department associates.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Develop product knowledge in the department.
- Use RF units as needed.
- Organize product loads and assist with inventory control.
- Conduct performance appraisals.
- Maintain effective work schedules.
- Use company tools like MPP, financial reports, scheduling, and ordering systems.
- Follow operational and merchandising standards to maximize profitability.
- Maintain communication within the department and organization.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and food safety standards.
- Understand and resolve shrink issues.
- Understand department manual and program manuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organize and learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
- Show good judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Lead and manage associates across multiple departments.
- Require Department Manager or equivalent experience.
- Preferably possess a college degree.
- Must be accredited as a Food Safety Manager or attend training to achieve accreditation within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
- Use computers and communication systems.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, up to 60 lbs. occasionally; push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
- Meet volume and activity standards.

Salary range: $18.95 - $27.25/hr
