Job summary

D&W Fresh Market in Grand Rapids is seeking a Department Manager to lead day-to-day department operations, ensure staffing and training, and meet company goals. You will manage inventory, supervise stocking and production tasks, and uphold food safety and store standards.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with 0–2 years of retail experience preferred and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations in the store.
• Order and maintain department inventory with proper markdowns.
• Review received orders for quantity, quality, and weight; ensure proper storage.
• Supervise stocking, production, and tasks to ensure quality and timely rotation.
• Maintain knowledge of store products and ad items; apply sales features.
• Communicate and execute the weekly Flight Plan per guidelines.
• Assist in scheduling, labor control, and payroll for the department.
• Support department manager in staffing, training, and development.
