Job summary

Poudre School District is seeking a Paraprofessional II to support the Center-Based Autism Program at Wellington Middle-High School. You will assist classroom teachers and care for students with significant support needs in a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes instructional support, safety, and health-related tasks, with a 3.75-hour day and ongoing 186-day calendar. Eligible for PERA retirement and disability benefits with other options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of related experience is preferred.
• Experience working with special needs students is preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• If assigned to a Title I school, certain criteria may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist general or special education teachers by providing instructional support.
• Implement behavior interventions and support students with emotional dysregulation.
• Monitor students in classrooms, hallways, and during transitions and ensure safety.
• Provide personal care, hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance as needed.
• Use assistive technology and communication devices to support student needs.
• Maintain detailed records of behavior and progress for IEP meetings.
• Collaborate with teachers, mental health providers, and case managers.
• Support development of self-regulation, social skills and daily living tasks.
• Attend specialized training and participate in staff development.
• Assist across settings and cover schedules for urgent cases as needed.
• Support safety protocols and participate in emergency response as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

One year related experience

Experience with special needs students preferred

Equivalent education/experience acceptable
