Job summary

City of Goldsboro is seeking a Cemetery Laborer to perform semi-skilled and unskilled manual work in cemetery projects under supervision. Duties include weed-eating, grass cutting, assisting skilled trades, grounds maintenance, following safety procedures, and wearing PPE.

Must read and write, lift heavy items, and work outdoors in heat or cold. Qualifications include high school graduation or GED and related work experience; physical demands include lifting 35-50 pounds regularly and up to 100

Employees in this class perform semi-skilled and unskilled work for cemetery projects. Occasionally operates non-specialized equipment for completion of tasks; does related work as assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
