Job summary

American Cemetery Services LLP in Wooster, OH is seeking a dedicated Cemetery Groundskeeper to maintain Sherwood Memorial Gardens. You will manage mowing, landscaping, grave-site preparation, and vegetation care to create a peaceful environment for families and visitors during their toughest moments.

The role requires physical outdoor work, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Prior groundskeeping or turf maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to operate riding mowers, hand tools, and light equipment safely.
• Physical ability for outdoor labor in all weather, including lifting and digging.
• Strong attention to detail and high standards of appearance.
• Compassionate, respectful demeanor in a sensitive environment.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cemetery grounds through mowing, trimming, edging and landscaping.
• Prepare grave sites for burials including digging, backfilling, and turf restoration.
• Plant, prune and care for trees, shrubs, flowers and other vegetation.
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers and tractors.
• Remove debris, leaves and litter to keep grounds clean year-round.
• Repair and maintain pathways, fencing, markers and cemetery infrastructure.
• Respond respectfully and professionally to the needs of visiting families and guests.
