Santa Fe Memorial Gardens is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain turf, trees, shrubs and landscaped areas while supporting cemetery operations, including irrigation and burials. You will report to the Cemetery Superintendent and learn every part of cemetery operations in a respectful environment.

The role requires hands-on outdoor work, safe operation of power equipment, and dependable attendance, including weekend/holiday service. Training will cover irrigation, equipment and burial procedures.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of outdoor work on a grounds, landscape, golf course, parks, farm or construction crew.
• Safe operation of mowers, trimmers, edgers and other power equipment.
• Ability to follow directions, work orders and maps, and keep simple work logs.
• Dependable attendance, including weekend or holiday service coverage as scheduled.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsabilités

• Mow, trim, edge, aerate and maintain turf, trees, shrubs and landscaped areas.
• Help with grave openings and closings, cremation interments and graveside setups.
• Prepare burial sites before services, work quietly and respectfully around families, and restore the grounds promptly afterward.
• Help set and level markers, monuments and foundations, and fill sunken or uneven graves.
• Inspect and repair irrigation heads, valves and lateral lines, and help with the well, main lines, ponds and water features.
• Use water carefully in Santa Fe's high-desert climate.
• Perform daily checks and basic maintenance on mowers and equipment, and report problems promptly.
• Complete assigned work orders and log your work accurately.
• Follow safety practices for equipment, excavation and PPE.
• Greet visitors courteously, and refer questions to the Superintendent or office staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Families visit Santa Fe Memorial Gardens on some of the hardest days of their lives, and they return for years afterward. As a Groundskeeper, you'll help keep the grounds beautiful and make sure every service goes smoothly. You'll report to the Cemetery Superintendent and learn every part of cemetery operations, including irrigation, equipment and burials.

Requirements

REQUIRED

PREFERRED

• Irrigation repair experience (heads, valves, lateral lines)


• Backhoe, skid steer or tractor experience


• Cemetery experience, or experience setting markers or monuments


• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred


• Pesticide applicator license preferred

Looking to grow? We'll train you on backhoe operation, irrigation systems and burial procedures, the skills that lead to crew lead and superintendent roles.
