Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months relevant landscaping, general construction or physical labor experience; funeral industry preferred.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment (shovel, rake, mower, trimmer, etc.) and to use measuring devices.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and be physically agile.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, plows snow, waters lawns, fertilizes and trims shrubs; tends flower beds and inspects grounds.
• Operates lawn and grounds equipment including push/power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers.
• Removes debris and trash; may turn down vases and remove wilted flowers.
• Assists in openings/closings for interments, entombments and inurnments.
• Assists in locating graves with verification procedures.
• May perform minor repairs to cemetery, building systems or equipment.
• May assist cremations: inventory and compliance with regulations.
• May assist in moving/installing burial vaults.
• Follow safety rules and OSHA guidelines; comply with regulations.
