Cement Terminal - Operator

Summary/Objective:

As a valued member of our team, the Level 1 Cement Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a cement distribution terminal. This entry-level position performs routine terminal operations, including loading and unloading cement, maintaining equipment, housekeeping, inventory control, and supporting daily terminal activities while following all company safety policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Functions:

  • Safely load bulk cement into trucks, railcars, and other transport equipment.
  • Assist with unloading cement from railcars, barges, or other delivery methods.
  • Operate terminal equipment, including conveyors, compressors, pumps, loaders, and other material handling systems.
  • Perform routine inspections of terminal equipment and report maintenance issues.
  • Monitor silo levels, inventory, and product quality.
  • Complete daily operational logs, inspection reports, and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs.
  • Support truck drivers, contractors, vendors, and customers as needed.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and emergency response activities.
  • Maintain computerized records of material amounts, truck identities and issuance of weigh certificates in compliance with county and stated regulations.
  • Issue sand/gravel weight certificates and scrap metal weigh certificates
  • Maintain record of current license numbers and current tare weights of all trucks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by terminal management.
  • Detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly.
  • Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and operational reporting.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
