Job summary

Louisiana Bridge Builders is seeking a Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher - Lead to support the Lake Charles project. Based in Lake Charles, LA, you’ll place, finish, repair, and cure concrete surfaces for roads, sidewalks, and curbs, ensuring quality and durability.

You will guide a crew, set forms, and manage work sequences on the job site. The role requires 5+ years of concrete finishing experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• At least 5+ years of concrete finisher or similar construction experience with a valid driver’s license.
• Experience leading a team/crew is preferred.
• Willingness to work in a field/ construction site environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily instructions and updates to team members.
• Set forms, screeds and ensure correct alignment, elevation, and grade.
• Mix, pour, spread, level, and smooth concrete using hand and power tools.
• Finish concrete surfaces with trowels, floats, screeds, and edgers.
• Apply surface treatments, sealers, and curing compounds.
• Cut expansion joints using hand tools or power saws.
• Monitor curing to ensure proper strength and durability.
• Repair and resurface existing concrete structures using appropriate tools.
• Read and interpret repair procedures and specifications for concrete placing and repair.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe and clean condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

Position Purpose/Summary

The Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher - Lead is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by placing, finishing, repairing concrete surfaces, and curing concrete surfaces to include roads, sidewalks and curbs, to achieve specified textures and finishes while ensuring quality, durability, and safety standards are met.

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide daily, clear, instructions and updates to team members/crew.
• Set forms, screeds and ensure correct alignment, elevation, and grade
• Mix, pour, spread, level, and smooth concrete using hand tools and power tools
• Finish concrete surfaces using trowels, floats, screeds, and edgers
• Apply surface treatments, sealers, and curing compounds
• Cut expansion joints using hand tools or power saws
• Monitor curing process to ensure proper strength and durability
• Repair, patch, and resurface existing concrete structures including use of concrete grinders, demo hammers, mix and pour repair mortars and dry rub finishing tools.
• Read and interpret repair procedures, and specifications as it relates to concrete placing and repair
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe and clean condition
• Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

TheCement Mason/Concrete Finisher - Leadposition requires working knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to the position. Must have at least five (5)+ years of concrete finisher or similar construction experience and a valid and current driver’s license. Experience placing and finishing bridge decks working around/with Bidwell roller pavers and work bridges asset. Experience leading a team/crew is preferred.
