Job summary

Precise Systems is seeking a Cellular Protocol & Software Engineer to analyze and implement 3G, LTE, and 5G cellular protocols for NSWC Crane missions. This role focuses on protocol signaling, message exchanges, and layer interactions, with in-person duties required across lab and field environments.

You will develop software in C, C++, and Python to generate and test cellular protocol behavior, decode signaling, and correlate RF observations with protocol activity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or math field with CS concentration.
• Strong programming in C, C++, and Python for protocol analysis and test development.
• Hands-on experience with cellular protocols at protocol-stack level.
• Knowledge of 3GPP LTE/5G architecture and signaling interactions.
• Ability to document findings clearly with technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Analyze 3G, LTE, and 5G protocol stacks and signaling flows at the packet level.
• Decode control-plane and user-plane signaling across RRC, NAS, PDCP, RLC, MAC, and PHY.
• Develop and maintain software in C/C++/Python to emulate or test cellular protocol behavior.
• Capture, decode, and troubleshoot cellular signaling using protocol-analysis tools.
• Prepare technical reports and engineering recommendations for Government review.
