Job summary

Vermont Cider Company seeks a Cellar Operator to support the production of high-quality beverages. You will participate in fermentation, blending, sanitation, ingredient additions, sampling, and equipment operation while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

The role involves following recipes, documentation, and procedures, with opportunities for wage progression based on skill and performance. This is a full-time on-site position with a clear path for advancement within a growing

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills needed.
  • Ability to follow recipes, procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to learn cellar operations, fermentation, blending, and sanitation processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CIP and COP cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Build fermentation and beverage blends according to recipes and customer specifications.
  • Add ingredients accurately and verify materials.
  • Collect and deliver samples to Quality Control.
  • Maintain clean, organized cellar and production areas.
  • Complete production records, cleaning logs, and traceability documentation.
  • Identify and report equipment, quality, and safety concerns.

Schedule
  • 1st Shift
  • Monday – Thursday
  • Four 10-hour shifts
  • Enjoy a 3-day weekend every week
Compensation

$19.00 – $27.00 per hour

Cellar Operators are placed in a tier based on experience, demonstrated skills, certifications, training, and job proficiency.

Tier 1: $19.00 – $21.00/hr

Tier 2: $21.00 – $24.00/hr

Tier 3: $24.00 – $27.00/hr

Pay is based on skills, experience, shift, equity, and business needs.

Opportunities for advancement and wage progression are available through training, skill development, and performance.

What You'll Do

As a Cellar Operator, you'll support the production of high-quality beverages through fermentation, blending, sanitation, ingredient additions, sampling, equipment operation, and documentation while maintaining strict safety, quality, and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform CIP and COP cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • Build fermentation and beverage blends according to recipes and customer specifications
  • Add ingredients accurately and verify materials
  • Collect and deliver samples to Quality Control
  • Maintain clean, organized cellar and production areas
  • Complete production records, cleaning logs, and traceability documentation
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance
  • Identify and report equipment, quality, and safety concerns
  • Support changeovers, allergen controls, and production schedules
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and documentation requirements
  • Ability to learn cellar operations, fermentation, blending, and sanitation processes
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Beverage, food, or manufacturing experience
  • CIP and sanitation experience
  • Forklift certification
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills
Requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout the shift
  • Work around tanks, hoses, ladders, moving equipment, and sanitation chemicals
  • Wear required PPE and work safely in a manufacturing environment
