Job summary

Argyle Winery in Newberg, OR is seeking Harvest Cellar Hands to join the production team for the upcoming harvest. This full-time, temporary role involves long shifts (10–12 hours/day, 6 days/week) around peak times from August to November.

Responsibilities include fruit intake, destemming, pressing, rackings, cleanings, and forklift tasks. The position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs, work in cold and rainy weather, and adapt to a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Process machine-picked fruit and make additions
  • Receive, stack, destem, and press fruit
  • Rackings, barrel downs, and barrel consolidations
  • Clean and sanitize winery equipment
  • Punch downs and pumpovers
  • Operate crush equipment, pumps, elevator, and press
  • Forklift driving including bin unloading and dumping
  • Drain and press finished wines
  • Enter confined spaces for digouts and clean presses and tanks
  • Daily cleaning duties and routine maintenance

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for Harvest Cellar Hands to join the Argyle Winery production team! Reporting to the Cellar Master, this role is responsible for helping craft both sparkling and still wines from the beautiful Dundee and Eola-Amity Hills in the upcoming Harvest.

This role is based in Newberg, OR and is a Full-time, temporary position, working ~ 10-12 hours/day, 6 days per week at peak times. The incumbent must be able to have a flexible schedule throughout the months of August-November.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Prior harvest cellar experience and forklift experience is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience with cellar procedures and understanding work orders is preferred, but not mandatory
  • A basic knowledge and understanding of the winemaking process
  • Works well in a team setting as well as autonomously at times
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to execute tasks in a timely manner
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work long hours at peak times (up to 12 hours a day and 6 days a week)
  • Dependability to show up to work every day and complete the tasks assigned
  • Ability to work in cold and rainy weather
    Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Processing Machine picked fruit and making additions
  • Managing fruit intake, including receiving, stacking, destemming and pressing
  • Rackings, barrel downs, and barrel consolidations
  • Cleaning and sanitation of winery and all winery equipment
  • Punch downs and pumpovers
  • Operation of crush equipment, pumps, elevator, and press
  • Forklift driving including bin unloading and dumping, barrel stacking, etc.
  • Drain and Pressing finished wines
  • Safely enter confined spaces to perform digouts, and clean presses and tanks
  • These daily tasks will be performed around a core of cleaning duties, preceded and followed by more cleaning; wash, rinse, repeat.
