Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Lab Manager to lead the Cell Processing Laboratory and GMP Laboratory, ensuring safe, compliant operations and high-quality services for cellular therapy programs.

The role oversees regulatory readiness, quality systems, personnel management, and continuous improvement, partnering with clinical, physician, quality, research, and administrative leaders to advance program goals and patient care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in medical technology or biological sciences required.
• 5+ years cell therapy lab experience (GMP or cell processing lab) required.
• 5+ years of leadership experience required.
• Experience with academic Cell Processing and cGMP labs and FDA/FACT accreditation preferred.
• Strong documentation and data interpretation skills required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational, technical and administrative leadership for two laboratories.
• Ensure regulatory readiness and cGMP compliance across labs.
• Mentor and develop laboratory staff; manage resources and budgeting.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders, quality, research and administration to drive program goals.
• Support investigations, CAPAs, change controls and inspections.
