Qualifications

• Knowledge of support services for lower/upper division and masters cell & molecular biology courses.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, follow protocols.
• Knowledge of materials used in cell & molecular biology labs.
• Knowledge of lab safety including regulations.
• Safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and biohazardous waste.
• Aseptic techniques for prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell cultures.
• Preparation and storage of DNA, RNA, proteins and related reagents.
• Preparation of buffers, PCR reagents, sterile media and other reagents.
• Knowledge of ordering lab materials for labs.
• Ability to lead and coordinate student assistants.
• Troubleshoot and basic maintenance of lab equipment, and familiarity with software.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent instructional support for cell and molecular biology courses.
• Order, prepare, and maintain supplies, reagents, and cell cultures.
• Ensure safe handling and disposal of chemicals and biohazardous waste.
• Coordinate safety documentation and chemical inventory.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance of lab equipment.
• Provide lead work direction to undergraduate/graduate students.
