Job summary

Genentech is seeking a Spring 2027 intern for Cell Line Development Automation in South San Francisco, on-site. You will join a cross-functional team to develop automated CLD workflows, test PoCs, develop methods, and document them for routine use.

The program offers a 6-month intensive paid internship starting January 2027 and a location-based stipend. Eligible candidates pursue a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in life sciences or engineering, with Python experience and a willingness to work with

Qualifications

• You have coursework or hands-on experience in a laboratory or life sciences discipline.
• You can troubleshoot an experiment that did not work, and you speak up when a procedure looks inefficient.
• You can read and write Python, and you are comfortable working with AI-assisted coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Test proof-of-concept workflows to find where automation gives the most benefit.
• Develop automated methods for the workflows you select.
• Run those methods and evaluate them against the current manual approach.
• Document the methods so others on the team can run them.
• Implement the validated workflow into routine use and present your results to the team.
