Job summary

Axiom Bio is developing human cell models and high-content assays to predict drug-induced toxicity across major organ systems. You will collaborate with robotics, ML, and computational teams to generate large-scale data powering safer medicines.

The role focuses on creating physiologically relevant models, validating assays, and translating complex biology into scalable workflows that help predict toxicity early in drug development.

Qualifications

• Experience with primary human cell culture and iPSC differentiation.
• Experience developing physiologically relevant models (co-cultures, organoids, spheroids).
• Strong background in cell biology, physiology, pharmacology.
• Expertise in high-content imaging, Cell Painting, fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, and image-based phenotypic screening.

Responsibilities

• Build human cell models that predict drug-induced toxicity across liver, kidney, heart, immune system, and pharmacokinetics.
• Design and optimize physiologically relevant systems using primary human cells, organoids, and engineered tissues.
• Develop high-content assays to reveal drug-induced cellular injury.
• Combine live-cell imaging, transcriptomics, proteomics, and mass spectrometry to link cell changes to mechanisms.
• Collaborate with robotics engineers to enable scalable, high-throughput workflows.
• Establish rigorous validation and quality control standards across batches and labs.
• Investigate mechanisms of drug-induced injury and distinguish true effects from artifacts.
• Partner with computational scientists and drug discovery to generate large-scale datasets for toxicity prediction.
• Collaborate with pharma and AI labs to interpret data and guide drug discovery decisions.
