Job summary

Ball Horticultural Company is seeking a Research Assistant - Plant Transformation & Cell Biology at our West Chicago, IL headquarters to support development of bioengineering and cell biology systems for Ball Helix Central Research lab. You will collaborate with scientists to execute experiments, maintain cultures, and ensure accurate data records in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in biology or related field; experience with plant tissue culture and aseptic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, Plant Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or related field required.
• 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with monocot/dicot plant tissue culture and/or plant transformation preferred but not required.
• Experience with aseptic techniques in laminar flow and bio-containment hoods preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in data capture (LIMS), word processing, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-changing environment.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized lab environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Support cell biology and bioengineering pipelines by developing and optimizing methods.
• Work with Scientists and Research Associates to execute experiments and record data.
• Initiate and maintain in vitro plant cultures in a high-throughput setting.
• Maintain a clean environment for plant tissue culture experiments.
• Maintain detailed records of work and project data.
• Perform lab duties to sustain high-throughput operations.
• Build partnerships and collaborate to meet shared objectives.
• Support the company’s mission and values.
