Job summary

Caminus, an Indianapolis-based lithium-ion cell manufacturer, is seeking a Cell Assembly Technician to join our production team in a controlled dry room environment. You will assemble battery cells following SOPs, handle electrodes, separators, and assembly components, and help maintain strict quality and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2–4 years of hands-on manufacturing or assembly experience, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to lift up

• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and production tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly of lithium-ion battery cells following documented work instructions and SOPs.
• Assemble battery components including electrodes, separators, tabs, pouches, and electrolyte.
• Operate small hand tools, precision fixtures, torque tools, and specialized assembly equipment.
• Inspect materials and completed assemblies for defects, contamination, alignment, and quality specifications.
• Perform dimensional measurements and visual quality inspections throughout the assembly process.
• Maintain accurate production records, travelers, inspection documentation, and traceability information.
• Handle sensitive battery materials using proper ESD and contamination-control procedures.
• Work within a low-humidity dry room while following all PPE practices.
• Identify quality concerns and notify supervisors or engineering personnel of abnormalities.
• Meet established production, quality, and safety goals.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area utilizing 5S principles.

Education

The Cell Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling lithium-ion battery cells in a temperature- and humidity-controlled dry room environment. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, steady hand-eye coordination, and strict adherence to manufacturing procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols. The technician plays a critical role in producing high-quality battery cells that meet engineering and customer specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform assembly of lithium-ion battery cells following documented work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Assemble battery components including electrodes, separators, tabs, pouches, and electrolyte.
• Operate small hand tools, precision fixtures, torque tools, and specialized assembly equipment.
• Inspect materials and completed assemblies for defects, contamination, alignment, and quality specifications.
• Perform dimensional measurements and visual quality inspections throughout the assembly process.
• Maintain accurate production records, travelers, inspection documentation, and traceability information.
• Handle sensitive battery materials using proper electrostatic discharge (ESD) and contamination-control procedures.
• Work within a low-humidity dry room while following all appropriate PPE practices.
• Identify quality concerns and notify supervisors or engineering personnel of abnormalities.
• Meet established production, quality, and safety goals.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area utilizing 5S principles.

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Two-year technical or AssociateDegree preferred.
• At least 2-4 years of hands-on manufacturing or assembly experience. Experience performing detailed manual work using small components.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination with frequent use of hands and fingers to manipulate small components.
• Ability to distinguish small defects through visual inspection.
• Ability to follow written work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and production tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Knowledge of health and safety laws pertaining to production operations. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which may include: respirator, face mask, gloves, protective eyewear, safety shoes, protective suits, shoe coverings, and head coverings. Will require work in dry room setting with low humidity level for extended period of time.
