CDM Smith's CEI team in Maitland, FL is seeking a CEI Roadway and Bridge Transportation Engineer that will:

  1. Lead and supervise construction inspection activities at various transportation infrastructure construction projects such as roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance and traffic field site locations.
  2. Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure construction activities are on schedule and meeting contract requirements.
  3. Estimate manpower needs, schedule, and assign work to meet completion date deadlines set by client.
  4. Supervise the work of field inspection staff.
  5. Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large and important construction projects, or a construction project of major scope and complexity.
  6. Participate in new business development and maintain existing client relationships.
  7. Act as a mentor for junior level employees.
  8. Assist in developing and implementing new strategies to enhance our CEI capabilities.
  9. Keep abreast of new methods and developments affecting CDM Smith and recommend changes to current programs or implement new programs warranted by new developments.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Amount of Travel Required: 20%

Skills and Abilities: Solid knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Solid knowledge of engineering principles of design. Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).

Driver's License Requirements: An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
