Job summary

EAC Consulting, Inc. is seeking a CEI Inspector (EI) to join our South Florida team across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or West Palm Beach.

You will support field inspections, assist Senior Inspectors, and perform complex surveying and layout tasks on major construction projects. The ideal candidate holds a civil engineering degree, two years of inspection experience (including bridge/roadway), CTQP certifications, and a valid CDL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
• Within the first year, candidate must obtain listed additional qualifications and certifications.
• Minimum of two years in construction inspection, with at least one year in bridge/roadway inspection.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection assignments related to construction work and field tests and assists Senior Inspectors.
• Receives supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work in progress.
• Performs complex field surveying and construction layout, marking and checking engineering computations.
• Maintains FDOT CTQP certifications.

Job description

EAC Consulting, Inc. (“EAC”) is looking for their next CEI Inspector (EI) to join our team at any of our locations in South Florida (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or West Palm Beach)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs inspection assignments related to construction work and field tests and assists Senior Inspectors in the performance of their duties.
• Receives general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
• Responsible for performing complex and technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking and checking engineering computations.
• Responsible for maintaining Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT’s) Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) certifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• The candidate must have or be willing to obtain the additional required qualifications and certifications listed below, as a minimum, within the first year of hire.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been in bridge or roadway construction inspection.

Qualifications

• CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
• CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
• CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)

Certifications

• IMSA Traffic Signal Technician I.
• FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT).
• Nuclear Radiation Safety.
• Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for inspectors and contractors

General requirements

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and system maps.
• Ability to understand and follow contractor schedules.
• Ability to carry 40 pounds (testing equipment).
• Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, periodic weekend and night work may be required.
• Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
