Job summary

HNTB is seeking a Field Inspector to perform daily inspections of construction activities, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications. You will maintain daily logs, verify materials, and support senior inspectors on a range of smaller projects in multiple Florida locations, including Tampa.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED with construction experience and relevant certificates, with strong emphasis on accuracy, collaboration, and problem-solving in a fast-paced field

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years construction experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Observe, document, and verify work for compliance with contract documents.
• Utilize inspection practices to perform standard measurements of completed work.
• Maintain Inspector's daily report of activities, labor, equipment, and quantities.
• Perform on-site material testing and produce as-constructed sketches.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, routine activities within a given discipline/trade performed by contractor in order to monitor the project’s compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Work is generally limited to smaller, standard, less complex projects.

What You'll Do

• Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
• Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
