Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced CEI Inspector to support our Gulf Region, located in Memphis, Brentwood, and Nashville, TN. You will inspect for compliance with contract documents, test materials, and review plans while maintaining daily diaries and coordinating with contractors.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, ability to perform physical tasks, and a valid driver's license. Pre-employment drug screening is required, and safety is a core value at Volkert.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, standing
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and work nights/weekends as required
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen per safety program
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR
  • Experience inspecting construction projects and testing materials preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specs
  • Test materials, review plans, analyze data, and survey/lay out construction
  • Maintain daily diaries and resolve constructability issues to mitigate delays
  • Monitor contractor activities and review test reports for conformity to specs
  • Document pay records and perform construction calculations
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utilities, and owners to minimize delays
  • Perform acceptance testing of materials in a lab and input results to databases
  • Promote safety culture and learn safety practices integrated into project delivery
  • Review others' work and develop quality management habits

Job description

We are currently searching for an experienced CEI Inspector to support ourGulf Region located in Memphis, Brentwood, and Nashville, TN.

What you'll be doing:

  • Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
  • Testing of materials; review of plans; analysis of engineering-related data; and construction survey/layout
  • Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolves daily constructability issues and trouble shoots problems to mitigate delays to contractor's progress
  • Monitors contractor's daily operations and performs and/or reviews test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual
    provisions. Also monitors utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
  • Documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry
  • Anticipates contractual problems and advises supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety,
    timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
  • Ensures compliance with TN EPSC standards, and that all work performed in permitted areas, is done in accordance with the permits
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while
    maximizing progress of the projects
  • Perform acceptance testing of materials in a laboratory environment and inputs test results into various computer data bases

  • Work within a supportive team environment where quality matters and attention to detail is valued. What you need to have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
  • Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
