Job Description

The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.32/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Hosts will courteously greet and escort guests to tables, assist in seating, and ensure Biltmore standards of service. They will maintain flow of seating by section, prepare the restaurant for service, and keep the room clean. Responsibilities include answering the telephone, taking reservations, maintaining the reservation book, and supporting the department and leadership.

Typical shifts vary between 10:00am and 10:00pm, with weekend availability required.

Requirements:

Previous customer/guest service experience preferred. Experience in food and beverage roles in a full-service, upscale restaurant is ideal. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to world-class guest service, and the ability to work effectively in a team. Ability to think quickly, exercise good judgment, and maintain composure in fast-paced environments is essential. Familiarity with reservations software such as OpenTable is helpful. Must pay attention to detail, handle transactions accurately, and present a professional appearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform physical movements like stooping, kneeling, reaching, etc.
  • Remain ambulatory or stationary throughout shifts.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in variable conditions.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Greet and seat guests, present menus, and ensure smooth seating flow.
  • Maintain courteous guest departure and invite return.
  • Assist with table setup and communicate VIP or special requests.
  • Answer phones, manage reservations, and respond to guest inquiries courteously.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
