Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced and certified CDOT Materials Technicians to work on CDOT projects. Technicians will perform routine inspections, field testing, and laboratory testing on construction materials (concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, etc.) to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. Testing may include soil classification, sieve analysis, gradation, PI, moisture content, air content, slump, density, and proctors. Inspections may include asphalt paving, concrete paving, structural concrete, utilities, stormwater, traffic control, masonry, etc. Technicians must follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintain professional relationships with coworkers, clients, and contractors. Responsibilities also include preparing daily field reports, test reports, and data sheets.

Qualifications

We are looking for experienced candidates:

  • Positions are full-time along the Front Range—from Fort Collins to Pueblo—with focused work in the Denver Metro Area and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • Night, weekend, and holiday work may be required, along with overtime beyond eight hours per day or 40 hours per week. Travel within and out of state may be necessary, with lodging and per diem provided for out-of-town work.
  • Requires 4 to 10+ years of construction materials testing and/or inspection experience. Willing to train the right candidate.
  • Must have one or more of the following certifications (or equivalent): WAQTC, ACI Field Grade 1, CAPA Level A & B, CDOT LIMS, CDOT Materials Technician, CDOT Plan Reading, Survey and Math, TECS, and TCS. Salary is commensurate with experience and certifications.
  • Must maintain current certifications; additional training may be required.
  • Must have above-average proactive communication skills, knowledge of construction practices, a willingness to learn, and a passion for continual improvement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel) is required.
  • Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a drug test are required.
  • Must pass background checks and drug testing.
