$25,000 Hiring Incentives for Social Work/Counselors:

Payout schedule: $5,000 after academy, $5,000 after 4 months, $5,000 after 8 months, and $10,000 after 12 months of service. Candidates must start employment before June 30, 2025, to qualify.

Who May Apply:

This position is only open to Colorado residents. Location: Buena Vista, Chaffee County, CO. Future vacancies at this location may also be filled via this posting.

We collaborate with Fading West Development LLC to assist with housing in Buena Vista; however, CDOC does not guarantee or operate housing.

Job Responsibilities:

This role provides substance use disorder services to offenders, including assessments, therapy, clinical management, and crisis intervention.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current, valid Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credential issued by Colorado State Board of Addiction Counselor Examiners;
  • One year of licensed or license candidacy experience with substance use, mental health, or sex offender populations;

Substitutions include licenses such as CSW, LPC, Psychologist, or MFT, and certifications like CAS or ADDC.

Required Competencies:
  • Valid Colorado license as an Addiction Counselor;
  • Knowledge of SUD and mental health standards;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to create accessible documents and provide direct inmate care;
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional licenses (LPC, CSW, MFT);
  • Experience with mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or incarcerated populations;
  • Suicide risk assessment experience;
  • Teamwork experience.
