Job summary

HTC Global Services is seeking a CDN Platform Engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable, enterprise CDN platforms across distributed environments. This hybrid role will consider remote candidates with one day onsite in Dearborn, MI.

You will own CDN tech, automate provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, build self-service in Backstage, and lead multi-CDN migrations while enforcing security and reliability standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing enterprise CDN platforms (Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, or Google Cloud CDN).
• Deep understanding of DNS, GTM, CNAME chaining, HTTP/2/3, TLS/SSL, caching headers, and edge computing.
• Experience provisioning across Akamai, Cloudflare, Google Media CDN, GCP Cloud CDN, and Fastly.
• Experience automating CDN provisioning with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience building API-driven self-service capabilities and plugins (Backstage).
• Experience frontend (React) and backend APIs (Python/Java).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for CDN technologies and partner with application, network, and security teams.
• Lead migrations and enforce enterprise standards in a multi-CDN ecosystem.
• Build self-service capabilities in an internal developer portal (Backstage).
• Develop automated remediation scripts and proactive monitoring for reliability.

The CDN Platform Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and operational reliability of enterprise Content Delivery Network (CDN) platforms supporting large-scale, customer-facing digital applications. This role drives secure and highly available content delivery by managing CDN configurations, caching strategies, traffic routing, and edge security controls across distributed environments.

This is a hybrid role; remote candidates will be considered with one day per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner and subject matter expert for CDN technologies, partnering with application, network, and security teams to implement scalable solutions.
• Build self-service capabilities within an internal developer portal.
• Execute complex global CDN migrations and enforce enterprise standards.
• Lead the technical transformation of global content delivery strategy and the CDN Center of Excellence (CoE), transitioning from a vendor-managed legacy model to a modern, automated Multi-CDN ecosystem.
• Lead technical root-cause analysis (RCA) for high-priority production incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
• Develop automated remediation scripts to prevent recurring issues.
• Maintain high system reliability through proactive monitoring and incident prevention.
• Establish and track CDN-specific SLOs/SLAs and implement alerting and proactive remediation.
• Evaluate emerging CDN technologies, tools, and performance optimization techniques.
• Mentor and train internal systems and automation engineers.
• Develop internal documentation, playbooks, and training materials to enhance team capabilities.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing enterprise CDN platforms, including Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, or Google Cloud CDN.
• Deep understanding of DNS, GTM, CNAME chaining, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, TLS/SSL, caching headers, and edge computing.
• Direct experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining landing zones and properties across Akamai, Cloudflare, Google Media CDN, GCP Cloud CDN, and Fastly.
• Experience developing modular, production-grade Terraform configurations and Ansible playbooks to automate CDN provisioning, origin mappings, WAF rules, and Bot Management policies.
• Experience building API-driven self-service capabilities and custom plugins for an internal developer portal built on Backstage.
• Experience writing front-end web components in React and backend APIs using Python (FastAPI/Flask) or Java.
• Experience building and maintaining declarative GitOps deployment pipelines using Tekton (Pipeline-as-Code) and GitHub Actions.
• Experience publishing management APIs via Apigee and working with OpenAPI standards and 42Crunch security scans.
• Experience building telemetry pipelines and centralized dashboards using Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana.
• SaaS experience.
• Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically GCP Cloud Run, GCP Transcoder API, and GCP OpenShift/GKE clusters.
• Experience configuring CDN layers in front of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM / AEMaaCS).
• Content management experience.
