Job summary

FedEx Logistics in California is seeking a yard switcher to move trailers between yards and doors, and to assist with loading/unloading as needed. You will coordinate trailer movements, document actions, and perform safety inspections in a fast-paced yard environment.

Must hold a valid CDL-A, a DOT file, and strong communication skills. Schedule starts around 3 pm Sunday–Thursday; regular yard duties include safety-focused operations in varied temperatures and noise levels.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL (Class A) to operate in interstate commerce is required.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors as needed.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management or central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Adheres to yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
