Job summary

GEODIS is hiring a Yard Hostler Public Road Class A CDL Driver to move trailers and containers safely within the yard and on public roads. The role requires inspections, securing loads, and coordinating with warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations.

This position emphasizes safety compliance, adherence to DOT/FMCSA regulations, and maintaining accurate yard records. The role supports our logistics operations and offers a hybrid work schedule with office presence four days per week.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Class A CDL Driver.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements.
• Must have a valid CDL and road test certificate.
• Must be physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under 49 CFR Part 391.41.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.

Responsibilities

• Safely maneuver trailers and containers to and from loading docks, storage areas, and staging areas within the yard and on public roads.
• Conduct inspections of yard trucks and trailers to ensure safe operation.
• Ensure trailers are chocked, locked, and secured before moving them.
• Maintain records of trailer movements and yard inventory.
• Coordinate trailer movements with warehouse personnel, dispatchers, and other team members.
• Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements and report incidents/hazards.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations for operating commercial vehicles on public roads.
• Assist in maintaining yard cleanliness and organization.
