Job summary

District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority seeks a qualified Utility Services Worker II CDL to support water distribution and sewer operations in the District. The role focuses on inspection, repair, flushing, and service connections, with responsibilities spanning meters, hydrants, valves and manholes.

The position requires a Class B CDL with air brakes and Tanker endorsement, high school diploma or GED, and at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in water distribution or sewer systems.
  • Ability to read maps/plans and interpret engineering drawings (preferred).
  • Must possess and maintain valid Class B CDL with air brakes; Tanker endorsement.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work shifts, holidays and weekends; on-call as required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair water distribution and sewer systems; flush hydrants and water lines.
  • Assist in meter reading, testing, and field data collection.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, jet vacs, and related equipment.
  • Support safety programs and use PPE; follow SOPs and safety rules.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and notify customers of service interruptions.
  • Prepare daily work reports detailing field activities and results.
