Job summary

Kishwaukee College is seeking a part‑time, temporary Truck Driver Trainer to deliver and oversee the 160‑hour CDL training program. The role supports the Truck Driving Training initiative and ensures students are prepared for the Class‑A CDL exam.

The instructor will provide classroom and behind‑the‑wheel instruction, maintain records, and collaborate with staff to uphold program standards. Primarily daytime with some evening/weekend events to support college activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class-A driver’s license with clean record.
• DOT medical card and ability to pass DOT drug screening.
• 3 years OTR or 5 years local tractor-trailer experience.
• Illinois driver abstract on file.
• Ability to teach classroom and hands-on CDL training.
• Commitment to confidentiality and FERPA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain 160-hour vocational CDL classes.
• Classroom-based training to prepare for CLP exam.
• Basic truck operation and safety training.
• Behind-the-wheel driving training on various roads.
• Evaluate and grade students throughout the class.
• Support students during CDL exam.
• Maintain student and equipment records in compliance with standards.
