Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher in the Jacksonville area. Responsibilities include moving trailers between yards and doors, and coordinating with central control to manage trailer flow.

You may also assist with loading/unloading and sorting packages by hand when needed, all while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Minimum education is none; six months experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL Class A to operate in interstate commerce is required.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment listed (rollers, carts, scanners).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches hooking and moving a parked trailer from yard to door or door to yard.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management/central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Follows yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
