Job summary

Indian River State College is seeking a qualified CDL Examiner (Third-Party Tester) to administer and evaluate CDL skills tests in strict compliance with federal and state DOT regulations. This role supports workforce development and public safety by ensuring fair, accurate assessments and secure recordkeeping.

Primary duties include conducting pre-trip inspections, basic controls, and road tests, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with instructional staff on scheduling and reporting,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid Third-Party Tester Certificate issued by Florida.
• Must have and maintain a valid CDL.
• Five years CDL experience preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Commitment to fair and impartial testing and integrity.
• Experience with PWS CSTIMS or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Conduct CDL skills tests (pre-trip, basic controls, road test) as scheduled.
• Administer tests following Department specifications and Examiners Manual.
• Record results accurately and input into PWS/CSTIMS by next business day.
• Provide accommodations for applicants with special needs as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of test materials and tablets.
• Comply with unannounced inspections and annual certifications.
